Short Life Line—Only reaching the center of the palm? A short life line, contrary to popular myth, does not mean a short life. The length of the life line is related more to a person's energy levels than to time or the length of life.

When short and thick, it indicates intense energy but a relatively incident-free life. This may mean a monotonous life, but it can also show that the subject has ceased to accept the challenges of life, and has become somewhat withdrawn or self-absorbed.

If the line is short and thin, faded or broken, poor health and withdrawal of social life may be the subjects challenge (see Figure 30).

Anyone who's practiced palm reading for a significant period of time knows that a short Life Line does not mean a short life. Never. Modern palm readers do not read the length of the Life Line as an indicator of length of life.

छोटी जीवन रेखा और लम्बी जीवन रेखा का अर्थ 

कितने ही हाथों में, मैंने यह देखा है कि जीवन रेखा दाहिने हाथ में अर्ध मंगल क्षेत्र के पास पहुँचते-पहुँचते ही समाप्त हो जाती है और देखने वाला उसकी मृत्यु के दिन समीप ही बतलाकर अपने कर्तव्य पथ से विचलित हो जाता है ।

 किन्तु मैने देखा कि एक रेखा मणिबन्ध के समीप से स्वतन्त्र भाग्य रेखा के समान केतु-राहु क्षेत्र से होती हुई कुछ दूर उपयुक्त जीवन रेखा के समानान्तर चलकर प्लेटो अथवा इन्द्र क्षेत्र के समीप शीष रेखा पर अपने को विलीन कर देती है जिससे नये पामिस्ट बहुत भारी धोखा खाते हैं और इस रेखा को भाग्य रेखा समझकर फलादेश कहने लगते हैं जो कि सर्वथा गलत साबित होते है। ये नये पामिस्ट मनुष्य को सम्मुख जीवित देखकर ही ऐसा फलादेश कहने का साहस कहते हैं अन्यथा उस हाथ का अक्स या चित्र देखकर तो उस मनुष्य को स्वर्गवासी हो जाने का ही आग्रह करेंगे किन्तु वास्तव में इस प्रकार से ऊपर जाने वाली कोई भी रेखा दुहैरी जीवन रेखा कही जानी चाहिये क्योंकि इस प्रकार की सहायक रेखाओं के हाथ में होने से मनुष्य अनेक संकटों से बचकर दीर्घ आय पाता है। इसलिये तनिक-सी सावधानी मनुष्य के जीवन का और तनिक-सी असावधानी उसी मनुष्य के मरण का फलादेश कहला - देती है।
