The Quadrangle is that area on the palm which is between the Head line and the Heart line, excluding mount of Jupiter and mount of upper Mars. It is also called Table of the Hand and there is some overlap of areas between 'Plain of Mars' and the Quadrangle.

Normal Quadrangle: When the two lines forming the boundaries of the Quadrangle are positioned in their proper place and are engraved on the palmar surface clearly and without flaws, then the Quadrangle is normal or regular. A well proportioned Quadrangle indicates, a just and honest character, generosity and broad mindedness with sound powers of judgement. If the interior of the Quadrangle is smooth and not crossed with many lines, whether from the head or from the heart, then it is indicative of evenness of mind, great intellect and loyalty in love and friendship. The Quadrangle should be well proportioned in the middle and should become wider on either side to give honesty and straight forwardness.

Quadrangle too wide: If the Quadrangle is too wide throughout its length, it reveals an independent disposition. The subject does not have the qualities of balance and morals will be too broad for his own good or the society in which he lives. He has a tendency to bend the rules as per his convenience. Spontaneity and a certain recklessnes can be found in his character most often.

Quadrangle too narrow: When the space is too narrow and is waist-like denotes prejudice and injustice, narrowness of character and a disposition unaccommodative of other's views. It leads to meanness and self-centredness. The fundamentalists from this group. It should be carefully noted as to which line is causing the narrow (i.e., which line is not in its proper place). If the Heart line is placed low or takes a deep downward curve, then the narrowness of character is due to cold and calculating which dominates the persons heart. But if the narrowness is caused by the head line
it means that the feelings and emotions dominate the rationality and reasoning power. Such an individual lacks clarity of vision or purpose. He is often blind to reality.

Careful about Public Image: If the space under the mount of Saturn is smaller than that under the mount of Sun, the individual is careful about public image and is sensitive about public opinion. In the reverse case, the man is careless about his public image and does not bother about what people think of him.

Interest in occult: When, without touching the main lines, there exists a clear well marked cross it gives an aptitude for occult studies. The cross is called the Mystique Cross. With other favourable markings in the hand, the man has the markings of an adept and has the ability to help people spiritually.

Other markings in the Quadrangle: A star in the Quadrangle gives a brilliant career. If it is under the mount of Saturn it indicates a brilliant achievement in profession. The star under the mount of Sun indicates artistic inclinations and fame in the field of art or literature. If the star is below the mount of Mercury, it is indicative of great success in science, business or oratory.

A well shaped triangle in the quadrangle is an indication of some unusual aptitude for research and scientific study. A square in the Quadrangle indicates lack of self control and a circle indicates eye trouble specially if it is placed below the mount of Sun. If the quadrangle is smooth and free of little lines criss-crossing, it denotes a calm temperament, otherwise it is indicative of a restless and irritable disposition. He is given to worry and impulsive reactions and tends to be hypersensitive.

The Head Line is separate from the Life Line at the beginning and forks at the end. The Head Line is good, defectless and goes to the upper mount of Mars. The Life Line starts from the mount of Jupiter. The nails are short, the palm is flat and the fourth finger is a little curved and has a square nail, its tip turning to the third finger.

If his thumb is straight and its middle phalange is long, he practises criminal law. If the Head Line goes to the mount of Luna, he takes up civil cases generally. Both the mounts of Mars are developed and good, finger-tips are square and the fingers close to one another. If the Fate line goes to the mount of Jupiter, success and fame are assured. Later in life he may become a judge.

Short nails make a person a critic. If the fourth finger is long, he is a good orator, and can express himself fluently in the court. A composer of music also has the above signs, but he also has his first and fourth fingers pointed and second and third spatulated.

If the Saturn finger is long and its mount developed, he plays on string instruments.

A vocalist has all the mounts, especially the mount of Venus, developed, with hands and fingers short and smooth. The fourth finger is soft and tender. There are many lines (grille) on the mount of Venus.

The lines of Children: It is one of the most uncertain areas of palm reading to predict the number of children and also tell how many sons and how many daughters. The Rascettes (Manibandh) : At the base of the palm generally there are one, two, or three lines that are together called rascettes. They are also called bracelets because that is where a bracelet will rest if it is worn. Clearly marked bracelets indicate a robust constitution and happy and prosperous life. 

In contrast, when the lines are chained, broad or shallow, they indicate weak constitution. Long lines rising from the rascette upwards to the mount of the Moon indicate travels. Very long lines mean long journeys. In a soft and flabby hand these lines may appear even if the subject is mentally travelling along with a travelogue. Some authors consider the horizontal lines marked on the mount of Moon as indicating travels. But in our experience those lines more often indicate health defects specially pertaining to kidney or intestines. There has not been much tradition of reading yogas in the palm. In western palmistry there is no mention of yogas in the palm. The Indian Palmists have always been under the great influence of Vedic Astrolgy and mention various things such as signs, planets (including Rahu and Ketu) and yogas. They have tried to include the planets like Neptune, Pluto and Uranus also in the palm even though these extra-Saturnian planets do not find place in regular Vedic Astrology.

To translate or transpose the astrological yogas on the palm is an excercise in futility. Only people oppressed by or obsessed with astrology would indulge in it. Palmistry has its own rich language, grammar, vocabulary and idioms, it has not and need not reamin in the shadow of astrology; so what if a few things are common between them.

There are innumerable yogas mentioned in a few old Hindi books (may be in other regional languages too). A cursory perusal of the formation of these yogas would clearly reveal that the very same meanings could be derived on the strength of one's common sensensical understanding of general palmistry.

The Yogas could be divided into several groups, e.g., yogas for wealth, for different professions, for different diseases, yogas related to Fate line, Life line, Head line, Heart line or Sun line etc. There are many yogas related to marriage, sexual conduct, love and romance etc. Spread out in the pages of this book are many yogas that are useful in Palmistry.
